I like the idea of buying the "on sale" investment grade stocks.
However I notice you mention only US securities. IMO you risk at least a 10% loss on the exchange when you purchase something in US $. Do you really think at this level the US $ is a good buy? I know we are limited in CDN selections but I would much prefer to try based on current $ levels.
I should have qualified that with "international exposure." A lot of nominally US co's have a large part of their earnings overseas, which partly offsets currency risk, but you're basically right. Why go that route when Canadian stocks are so cheap? An especially good time for US investors - grab that dollar discount while you can.
