I agree that you should beware of HOU. Very tricky to trade and my experiences haven't been great, even though I am bullish on oil for this year.

I do however think that the gold sector will float your boat....I've diversified from 100% producers to include a basket of juniors with cash...(I believe the market has been forming a bottom). Gotta love McEwen and his $5,000 prediction in 4 years and $2,000 by the end of this year.
