Message: The YUKON STORY and ...

Interesting, and perhaps a bit misleading.

First of all, the reason Shawn Ryan, Underworld and Kaminak were so successful is that the gold on the properties had not migrated at all. The last ice age left much of the Yukon and Alaska barren and iceless, a place called Beringia. Geologists are attributing the ease of finding gold in this area with the fact that the last ice age didn't move the soil at all. Find some placer gold in the White Gold area, and there will be a quartz gold source directly below it. The only real question is how rich the source will be.

Second of all, most of the quartz discoveries being made are not associated with the original Klondike gold rush. Placer miners are not complete fools. They have been drilling the bedrock in the Klondike River Valley for over 100 years with only disappointing results. The belief of geologists is that the loose placer gold in the Klondike resulted from millions of years of rock fragmentation, and that the original source had disappeared.

The discoveries being made are in areas of marginal placer mining activity, hundreds of kilometers from the Klondike. Areas where there was enough gold to make a living, and not much more. I've been to Coffee Creek, site of Kaminak's find, many times over the years. There's a beautiful old frontier ranch there, and the remnants of discontinuous placer mining activity -old overgrown roads, and if you really look hard you could find where some small operations were working.

The gold is definitely there, and I am a shareholder in Kaminak. But a lot of this article is propaganda.
