QUESTION..after a mine collapse,do they abandon mine?..

First,congrats to the Chilean miners,it was such a wonderful sight..and it just got me wondering that after a mine collapse (deadly or not)..do they continue on with business, or do they abandon the mine due to the damage caused,or out of respect,..what usually happens...I hope its ok to ask this question here,really interested in this,thanks guys
