it will be interesting to see where they get their power from.The strange thing is France has so many Nuclear plants,all Germany needs is a French faux pas and a stiff breeze and they re in trouble,just ask the countries next to Chernyobil.But I ve always admired the Germans,smart people.Let s see where this goes,and may lead to a really good buy for uranium.

I expect they'll use coal and Russian natural gas until they grow weary of the terms, at which point they'll start up a 4th generation nuclear program. Public opinion aside, there really isn't much choice. The Chinese are already getting on with it - their situation is more pressing, but we're all in the same boat. It's not really an electricity problem so much as a liquid fuel problem. We need a replacement for massive amounts of oil as a transportation fuel, and we need it in fairly short order. It's going to be very tight, and the move forward will probably be driven by crisis.

Basically, there's only one source big enough to replace oil and that's coal. But you have to stop burning it for electricity and convert it to diesel instead. To do that you need nuclear power - both as a replacement for electrical generation, and as a power source for converting the coal.

No radical breakthrough is needed - the technology is already there - it's just a matter of putting it together on a scale that can meet future demand for motor fuel.

Battery powered cars? Sure, they'll work in an urban environment, but how do you power a bulldozer, a ship, a 747 or a railway locomotive? Lose those and you've lost the game. If you can't build things and move around, you're finished. No amount of electric light will get you out of that corner.
