I'm convinced that that is only a small part of his problems.

I'd have to agree, although there are occasional flashes of brilliance that keep me coming back. I don't know what he was like before, but going through the prison system definitely leaves a mark, so I tend to discount that. I'd be interested to know if anyone's done an independent study of the guy and followed up on some of his claims. As it stands, I only have his say so as to the validity of his forecasting methods. I like his take on history though, especialy the Roman stuff.
