Kenyan Politics

We may not make much money, but we sure have a lot of fun!
I'm having a lot of trouble finding unbiased opinion on the politics of Kenya. Basically I know nothing about the place and have no yardstick to make comparisons. Most articles I've found on the web seem highly biased, which to me indicates polarization in Kenya's political dialogue. Some claim great advances have been made in recent years while others point to business as usual with corruption the main culprit and inflation as the main driver of discontent.
This article from a Tanzanian business site is about the most balanced view I could find.
Stuff from the World Bank and other organizations is just a bit too optimistic and self-serving to take seriously, and the revolutionary sites, as you'd expect, take it to the opposite extreme. A central theme seems to be excessive corruption, which is what you'd expect I guess, but it's hard to tell how bad it is compared to other nations in Africa or elsewhere.
Basically, I'm trying to get a handle on whether it's worth the risk to pile in now, or if the easy money has already been made, and the troubles one encounters when great wealth appears on the horizon are about to begin.
I guess having the rug pulled in Ecuador has made me gun shy on investing in high risk plays. If there's as much oil in Kenya as some are projecting, this thing could go south very quickly - big money has that effect on poor nations. OTOH, maybe this is just what Kenya needs right now to pull itself out of the poverty that is all too common in Africa. Hard to tell at this point.
