Venaditas (2365 ha): Gravity and magnetic profiles over the coincident IP anomalies on the Venaditas and Piedrotas claim blocks southwest of the Teck/Western Copper San Nicolas mineral copper/zinc sulphide deposit, have defined two circular residual gravity anomalies over mafic volcanic units. Both anomalies are interpreted to be 150 meters from surface and warrant a diamond drill test. Two holes were located on Venaditas to test Gradient Array and Dipole-Dipole IP anomalies with chargeability similar to that obtained over the San Nicholas discovery (10 - 15 mrads). The area is underlain by sediments and volcanics containing altered rhyolite porphyry. This environment is considered favourable for VMS style mineralization. Hole VE 01 was also located over a combined magnetic and gravity anomaly. No significant anomalous values were obtained in either hole. The gravity anomaly remains unexplained but enough pyrite was found to explain the IP anomaly. Hole VE 01 was entirely in sediments but VE-02 intersected in its upper part 140 m of rhyolite, intermediate to mafic volcanics and microdiorite. It appears that a downfaulted block of volcanic stratigraphy is preserved on the southern part of the Venaditas property. Consideration may be given to further drill testing of the E-W belt of anomalous gradient array IP that straddles the volcanics.
The question is this :
Could there be enough pyrite concentrated that creates the SG Anomaly?
