Yes it is done - no it is not supposed to be done. I used to talk to a CEO of a company over the time frame of 3-4 years and he got to trust me enough to tell me that a week to a couple of weeks was not much problem as long as the news is not linked to some outside source such as a government agaency where timing could be verified.
