Alda's management's lack of initiative is really irritating and apparent. I was at the Vancouver convention center and noticed that they had purell dispensers everywhere. Now, there are a great deal of international visitors who attend functions at this location and outside every entrance is a Purell hand sanitizer dispenser. You would think at a location called "Canada Place" that they would be proudly using a Canadian product (especially as it is superior to Purell in every way and an Olympic sponsor). In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they would allow Alda to supply them exclusively if they were to supply the dispenser and products for free.
Their lack of vision and proactivity leads me to believe that management is either unmotivated or incompetant.
TO can blame the bottom falling out of the hand sanitizer market, but the fact remains that hand sanitizers are here to stay, and people are buying and using the product. I believe that us shareholders are reasonable in that we don't expect them to beat Purell's sales numbers in the short term. However, they need to show some initiative in that they are making steps to gain market share.
If Alda folds, and or TO skips out, I will be sure to inform David Baines (of the Vancouver Sun) about this and perhaps he might find all this news worthy. I know it won't bring back the money lost to shareholders, but it might warn future investors of any other future "projects" TO decides to chase. I also believe that the BC Securities Commission would be very interested in auditing the inside trades of the past 2-years of especially TO.
