Uralkali increases Q1 potash production 40% y-o-y

Since the breakup of BPC, Uralkali has adopted a volumes over prices strategy, and the company is continuing to ramp up output to offset lower potash prices. However, with prices already at a four-year low, additional production will most likely keep prices at low levels.
Leading potash producer Uralkali increased production of the mineral by around 40% in the first quarter of 2014, the company said today.
Potash production increased to 2.93m tonnes KCl for January to March 2014, up from 2.08m tonnes KCl for the same period the previous year.
