President & CEO
An entrepreneur in the mining industry, Brian built a successful group of private mineral exploration and exploration service companies prior to co-founding Altius. He has many contacts throughout the mining and financial communities and is an active member of several industry organizations.
Roland W. Butler Jr.
B.Sc., B. Ed., Director, Vice-President
Roland is a co-founder of Altius and is integral to strategy development,project generation, as well as commercial and community relationships at the Company. His responsibilities draw upon his geological and business experience both as an independent entrepreneur and with junior and senior mining companies. He is also active as a community volunteer.
J. Geoffrey Thurlow
Ph.D., P. Geo., Director
Throughout three decades of exploration, Geoff has received acclaim as a VMS base metals expert. A distinguished record of orebody and prospect discoveries has provided the base for an active consulting practice for junior and senior companies on the national and international stage. He has been published extensively in the area of Appalachian mineral deposits and has been awarded many distinctions by his peers.
John A. Baker
Q.C., Director
John is a senior partner in a leading St. John's law firm and carries on an extensive and diverse mining, securities, and corporate / commercial practice. He has served on numerous public company and volunteer boards and has received several awards for public service.
Donald J. Warr
F.C.A, Director
Mr. Warr has 33 years experience as a Chartered Accountant and actively practices as a partner with the accountancy firm, Blackwood and Warr. He is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland and has provided distinguished service to numerous professional associations and community service groups throughout his career. Mr. Warr has served on the Board of Directors of Newfoundland Capital Corporation (NCC-TSX) since 1995.
Susan Sherk
Director
Susan Sherk is based in Newfoundland and Labrador where she has been very active in corporate and public sector capacities. She has been a director of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board since 2001 and sits on the Investment and Human Resources Committees. Susan has extensive experience working on socio-economic issues related to resource development projects in Newfoundland and Labrador and internationally and has won several awards for her activities in this area. She is currently a senior consultant with AMEC Americas Limited, specializing in socio-economic and economic development projects.
Fred Mifflin
Director
Fred Mifflin is a native of Catalina, Newfoundland and Labrador and is currently a Partner with Blair Franklin Capital Partners in Toronto, an independent financial advisory and investment management firm. Throughout his career, he has worked in increasingly senior roles in the international investment banking world. Prior to his current position, he was Vice Chairman and Global Head of Investment and Corporate Banking for BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc., responsible for that firm's business in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. He also previously led BMO Nesbitt Burns' metals and mining business. Fred holds a B. Comm. (Hons.) degree from Queen's University, an M.B.A. from The University of Chicago and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School.
Ben Lewis
B.Comm., C.A., CFO
Ben graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1991 and earned his Chartered Accountant designation in 1993. He has since held roles with increasing levels of responsibility with both private and public companies. His most recent position was that of Corporate Controller for NYSE and TSX-listed CHC Helicopter Corporation. His responsibilities with Altius will include overseeing its financial management and reporting as well as contributing valuation and structuring expertise to its project generation initiatives. Ben is from Marystown, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Chad S. Wells
B.Sc. (Honours), VP Corporate Development and Corporate Secretary
Chad currently manages corporate development and marketing activities for Altius as part of his daily role. Chad has previous experience as a consulting geologist working with junior and senior companies in the mineral and petroleum sectors across Canada. His geological background allows him an intimate understanding of project activities that allows more effective communications with Altius diverse shareholder base.
Lawrence Winter
MSc, PGeo, PhD, VP Exploration
Lawrence is a graduate of Memorial University and The University of British Columbia, and is a registered Professional Geoscientist. He is a director of the PDAC and serves on several geoscience organization committees. Lawrence has worked in mineral exploration and project development across Canada and internationally. His roles with Altius are primarily project generation and exploration program development.

Brent Cook, B.Sc. (Solana Beach, CA)
Mr. Cook is a graduate of Utah State University and is an independent minerals exploration analyst based in Solana Beach, California. He has provided a broad range of geological consultancy and corporate advisory services to numerous clients in the minerals industry, including roles as a mining analyst and investment advisor for US-based investment firms. Mr. Cook has 25 years of international experience and has worked in more than 50 countries.
Dan Hansen (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Mr. Hansen is a private fund manager. He has more than fifteen years experience in the field of international finance and brokerage. Mr. Hansen has been active in the mining industry where he serves as a senior advisor to select mineral exploration companies.
Jean-Pierre Lefebvre, (Montreal, Que)
Mr. Lefebvre has over thirty years experience as an independent businessman. He has more than twelve years experience serving as a director of several mining and mineral exploration companies operating throughout the world. Mr. Lefebvre has established a solid reputation as a financier and contributor to emerging exploration companies.
Hugh Mogensen, B.Sc., P. Geo., (Saanichton, BC)
Mr. Mogensen is geologist and businessman with worldwide experience. He holds directorships in a number of resource companies. He has served as Manager, International Oil and Mineral Operations for Norcen Energy Resources, President of Campbell Resources and as founding President and later Chairman of Inverness Petroleum.
David F. Strong, Ph.D., (Victoria, BC)
Dr. Strong is a widely renowned geologist in the field of mineral deposits and has published many scientific papers. He is recent past President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Victoria, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, has been awarded several honorary doctorates.
Michael Walter, B.Sc. (Hons.), (Georgetown, ON)
Mr. Walter's 25 year career has included roles as mine project engineer for Falconbridge Gold's Hoyle Pond-Owl Creek development, chief engineer for Falconbridge Gold Corp., senior project engineer for Billiton Metals Canada with responsibility for managing and long-term planning of its interest in Les Mines Selbaie, project director for BHP Billiton, chief engineer (geo-science centre) for BHP-Billiton, and global manager (internal group technical audit services) for BHP Billiton.
