Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp.: Metallurgical Scoping Tests Completed for Artillery Peak Manganese |
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 13, 2009) - Mr. Larry W. Reaugh, President & CEO of Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:RD)(PINK SHEETS:RDBHF) ("Rocher Deboule" or the "Company") is pleased to report completion of successful scoping tests on a composite sample from the MacGregor Pit area of the Artillery Peak Manganese Property, Mojave County, AZ. The Company now has a reliable assurance that it is possible to develop a simple conventional process for leaching and purification of the leach solution to produce manganese salts and high purity metal from this source. Composite samples taken under the supervision of N. Tribe P. Eng., the Company's consulting geologist were shipped to Mountain States Research & Development Institute ("MSRDI") at Vail AZ. where they were prepared and assayed in readiness for metallurgical tests. MSRDI were contracted to do gravity concentration and hydrometallurgical work for the preconcentration & acid leaching confirmation of earlier efforts to extract manganese. A portion of the composite sample was shipped to Process Research Associates ("PRA") at Richmond, BC along with a bulk sample of manganese sulphate containing some dithionate (available from work done on Artillery Peak material some years ago). This manganese salt was used to produce manganese carbonate, manganese acetate and manganese metal by electrolysis. The Company will be evaluating several electrolysis methods now available to optimize the recovery of metal. The results from these campaigns are positive. Both MSRDI and PRA confirm that manganese extraction in excess of 90% can be achieved thru leaching relatively coarse particles using sulphurous acid. PRA have produced manganese metal by ELECTROMETALS CANADA INC.'s Proprietary EMEW electrolysis technology. Production of metal by conventional electrolysis was achieved some years ago by Hazen Research Inc. ("HAZEN") on Artillery Peak material. Plans to confirm HAZEN's results are being discussed with them at this time. The huge extent of manganese mineralization at Artillery peak occurs mostly near surface at grades varying 3% to 15% with the estimated average likely to be 4% to 7% Mn. Clay and silt occur thru much of the mineralization which is described as "wad", with pyrolucite and other oxides of manganese including small amounts of impurities. It is not possible to upgrade it without incurring substantial losses but it is amenable to being leached by a mixture of water and sulphur dioxide (Sulphurous acid) at a coarse size achieved by crushing without the need for grinding thru a ball mill. The Company is preparing a business plan which will include the essential elements deemed necessary to establish optimum conditions for economically successful process to produce manganese from this property. The scoping tests provide a reliable basis for more detailed work. This press release was prepared by John W. Fisher, P. Eng., a qualified person under NI 43-101. About Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp.
