Company overview
Anooraq is in the business of acquiring, exploring and developing prospective platinum group metals (PGM) properties. The Company has projects in the Bushveld Complex, a geological region that is internationally recognised for its PGM and chromotite deposits, located in South Africa.
Anooraq has been positioned as the first Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) company with two North American listings and a South African listing. Anooraq has a primary listing on the Toronto Venture Exchange (TSXV), and secondary listings on the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) and the JSE Limited (JSE). Anooraq successfully effected its inward dual listing on the JSE on 19 December 2006 by way of introduction. The company’s entire issued share capital of 148,220,407 common shares will be listed on the JSE under the 'Mining – Platinum and Precious Metals' sector.
The Ga-Phasha PGM Project (“Ga-Phasha) and the Boikgantsho Joint Venture (“Boikgantsho”) are Anooraq’s primary projects. The company's principal focus continues to be the completion of the advanced drilling programmes and associated studies at the Ga-Phasha Project and Boikgantsho JV.
Anooraq is well poised for growth in a dynamic environment, as it has access to international and South African capital markets; sustainable BEE credentials and projects that are located in the world’s premier PGM region.
Anooraq was incorporated on 19 April 1983 under the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. The company’s exploration activities were from 1996 to 1999 focused on Mexico, prior to a decision to focus on South Africa from October 1999. Anooraq has two active wholly owned Cayman Islands subsidiaries, N1C Resources and N2C Resources, which hold its resource assets. Plateau Resources (Pty) Ltd, is Anooraq’s wholly owned South African subsidiary, which holds the legal rights to the mineral interests of the company’s projects.
