Apoquindo Minerals Inc. Samples 52 Meters of 1 g/t Gold and 35 g/t Silver at the Huarman Prospect, North Central Peru and Signs Social Agreement
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 6, 2008) - Apoquindo Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:AQM) is pleased to announce the first results from the surface and underground sampling carried out at Huarman. The Huarman prospect exhibits both Au-Ag and polymetallic targets and is located in North Central Peru, 45 km's south of Barrick's producing Pierina Mine (40 MT of 0.027 opt Au as of Dec. 2007; Source Barrick Annual Report).
Sampling at the San Juan Zone consisted of 115 rock chip samples which were collected from surface and underground workings and averaged 1.4 grams per tonne gold and 36 grams per tonne silver. Three tunnels consisting of 134 metres of underground workings were surveyed, sampled and mapped during the exploration program. Results received to date by the Company confirm the near surface bulk tonnage potential of the San Juan breccia system. The best continuous gold intercepts from underground sampling in two tunnels include:
52m of 1.0 g/t gold including 10 m of 2.57 g/t gold
24m of 4.0 g/t gold including 2 m of 46 g/t gold
46m of 0.7 g/t gold including 14 m of 1.04 g/t gold

Samples are uncut and were
collected in 2m intervals.
The principal host rocks at Huarman are brecciated andesites and dacites of the Calipuy Volcanics of Tertiary age. One of these breccias has been variably silicified and mineralized with gold and silver and accompanying lower grade lead, zinc, copper, and iron sulfides within an area nearly 500 meters in diameter. In the area of the San Juan pit and underground workings, located on the eastern border of this breccia, the San Juan Zone is at least 50 meters in width and is more than 150 meters in length in an 80 degree direction. This zone is open at depth and all directions.
Cesar Lopez, the Company's President, comments, "We are pleased to receive such excellent results from our initial sampling program at Huarman. These results confirm the potential for a bulk tonnage open-pittable gold-silver resource at Huarman. We now have a good foundation from which to expand and advance exploration activities in Peru in 2008."
Additional detailed surface sampling, trenching, geology, and IP geophysics are underway on the prospect. A core drilling program of 2,500 meters is planned to commence in June to further test the targets.
Regarding QA/QC, KoriTambo is inserting duplicates, standards and blanks according to Instrument 43-101 standards. Assays are performed by ALS Chemex in Peru.
The maps and figures for the sampling program at the Huarman Au-Ag prospect will be posted and available for viewing on the company's website at

With the social agreement in place with the local District of Succha, KoriTambo can concentrate on receiving the DIA Permit needed to carry out the 2008 drilling activities. The social agreement includes utilizing local labor for various phases of the exploration, agricultural benefits for the District, as well as protecting the environment. Succha, which recently celebrated 100 years as a District, has a mixture of small scale polymetallic mining and agriculture in its long and colorful history.
Dr. Tom Henricksen, Chief Geologist of KoriTambo and the Company's Qualified Person for the purposes of NI 43-101 has approved the information contained in this news release.
