Title: The National Government
Supports Private Investment

Date: October 30, 2007

Posorja (Guayas), October 30,
2007. – Today, the President of the Republic, Rafael

Correa, visited the
properties in Posorja, where the deepwater port will be built in 2009.

The first operation of this
Project, which is being built by the company Alianza

Internacional Portuaria
(Aliport)*, includes the execution of a dock that is 400 meters in

length and 12.5 meters in
depth that will allow large ships to dock.

The President welcomed the
investors and reiterated his support “as long as they comply

with the four ethics of the
government in regards to the workers, the users, the payment

of their taxes to the State
and the respect to the environment”.

He also reminded that “he was
accused of being against private investment because his

government was a socialist
one. We are totally collaborative with those entrepreneurs that

come to create employment”.

With the execution of this
Project, 7,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs will be created

and around 1,500,000 people
will be integrated to the production, announced the director

of Alinport, Carl Gensen.

For the President, this
deepwater Project could have a great impact in achieving better

competitiveness and also for
the external commerce of
Ecuador. “You receive all the

support from the Ecuadorian
Government. This country is in need of clear rules by which

all of us will have to abide,
but fair rules because many of them have been created to

defend the privileged
classes”.

The president of the
Corporation Albacora, Ignacio Lachada, pointed out that this Project

has given employment
opportunities in the area and it will give
Ecuador a port that could

compete with the neighbouring
countries.

Finally, the President
assured the audience that “with the new National Constituent

Assembly our country will
have truthful rules with a reliable government that will make

sure the rules are observed
and all of us can move ahead (progress). DJ/Presidential Press
