"You’re right. We’re getting quite a few calls/emails today. We are working to clarify the situation as quickly as possible but it’s not likely to be immediate. We are in regular dialogue with the Ecuadorian government and they are now going public with their desire to negotiate with some companies to get projects going sooner rather than later, which is good. Basically with the new mining laws not being put in place until next year a case by case basis is the only way for projects to be fast-tracked. As to what the royalties are going to be, it is still early days to say that. This story that is impacting our share price is based on a press conference which the government held after a mining workshop so it is not a complete fabrication (as a couple of the other stories have been). It is not the entire story either. At least several of the mining companies operating in Ecuador are in discussions with the government to help them understand economics of mining and the impact that various royalty schemes could have for the country".
