Excellent summary of the situation and a good suggestion.  If ARU is in a position to issue such a news release (supposedly with prior clearence from the Ecuadorian governement) it would have calmed all fears. 

The largest of which is, of course, the government may be using environmental issues as a weapon to confiscate concessions.  Such a press release would have eliminated that concern.
