Let's not scare ourselves any more about this windfall tax for now.  Wait for the details and we might just laugh at ourselves silly later for worrying about nothing.  Who knows?  After all everyone pointed out repeatedly that Correa is supposed to be intelligent and an economist who should know better.

[Actually not necessary a good thing, because there is an old joke that if you lock 10 economists in a room, there is a good chance you could come out with 20 different opinions].

As it is the windfall tax is a detriment toward a nation trying to build a mining industry.  Who would come and invest in Ecuador under such draconian tax laws?

Also, hopefully, the current SP has already factored in this 70% windfall tax, and we may not see any further decline in our SP as a result.  Monday's trading would be interesting.  Who know?  SP may even go up, afterall this is ARU and normalcy does not apply.
