"So...let me get this straight. The pro traders were forbidden by the brokers they work for to trade ARU in the past. Now it is in the index so they have been granted permission. Having attained this permission, they choose to sell significant amount of shares every day in the MOC at a price less than the close of real market so that they can make money day trading?

Wow. And you thought the manipulation theories were implausable".

Did someone say the pros were SELLING. They wud be BUYING today at $9.21. The sell orders wud likely originate with Index Funds rebalancing at the end of day based on relative moves in the other stocks & program trading. Get your broker to explain it to you.

Joltin

" Lately plenty of shares have been moving at a price lower than they could have got during normal hours. Assuming trading is all above board and propper perhaps you could explain why they choose to sell in the MOC and receive less for their shares than they could have otherwise?"

You can't know the closing bid & offer until 4pm. With computers it helps those involved to make a good guess as to what MOC orders will be executed at the closing bid or offer. You can't tell me that you know the price at 3;20pm will be higher or lower than at 4pm.

"Something else that is much simpler I dont quite get either - as there are obviously buyers and sellers participating, why is it that the price always looks like someone just hit the bid instead of the opposite hitting of the ask causing the price to stay the same or even possibly rise at 4:10? "

The orders have to be in before 4pm not 4;10pm. Sell MOC orders will trade at the best bid.price. Buy MOC orders will trade at the best offering price.
