Splurge of news out of Ecuador

It seems that all of a sudden there's a load of political activity in Ecuador, coupled to that Soto's resurrected himself from the pit he dug himself into.
Any of you guys think that this sudden activity has anything to do with the new mining laws or if it's political infighting?
