Correa: 'If you are going to lift, Stand up'
The president, Rafael Correa, ensured that mining will have no binding nor the prior consent of indigenous communities, as required by the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAI), as part of future energy holdings.
In this regard, challenged the indigenous movement - which is already stated in opposition to the regime last Tuesday - to "whether they will be lifted, adjournment," and compared the position with that of indigenous groups "more retardatarias of Ecuador" ,
Correa said that it will not allow the demands "of certain leaders" are imposed on the implementation of projects of interest to the entire country.
"It has been experienced that (the indigenous sector)", ensured that will not fail if an indigenous community that opposes the construction of a hydroelectric plant, for example, the entire country is left without light.
Thus, reiterated that the State will, and not a minority group, which takes the final decision before the implementation of projects, as is reflected in the new Constitution.
