Time to come out of the basement....

While watching CNN an analogy comes to mind
You're a farmer in tornado alley in Kansas
Anything can happen there this time of year
You're working in the back 50 and the clouds have been dark
but not strange for this time of year, you almost get used to it
Nothing prepares you for that funnel that touches down in your neighbour's field
and it's headed your way...
You make a beeline for your house...
scooping up the wife and kids and rush to the basement
slamming the door behind you to get to that ?safe place'
You huddle and wait for the worst
The sickening noises, screeches, like a train wreck
and then nothing...deathly quiet...
The family stays, as you go up the stairs
is there a roof? a second floor? a first floor even?
How about the barn? Or the animals?
You make your way to the front yard and glance back
By God it's still there, and glance over to the barn
which also stands, animals back to their normal noises
the tornado had gone right between the house and barn
and exited through the bush...resulting in more firewood for next winter
For us...it's time to come out on the front lawn....
Aurelian is intact...FDN's still there, our gold's still there, our workers are still there
We were blind sided by the politics...
but that's where we live....
And after a close call...you appreciate what you have...just a little bit more
