Cost Inflation Partly Behind Push to Launch Gold Wheaton

TORONTO (CP) -- A rise in capital costs and the crippling labour shortages hampering gold mine development meant the time was right to launch Gold Wheaton Corp., its chief executive said Friday.

The Vancouver-based company won't produce metals, but rather buy production streams from miners - applying to gold the same principle that Silver Wheaton Corp. [TSX:SLW; NYSE:SLW] began using on silver four years ago.
