2. Write the Canadian Embassy in Quito. Ask them when the draft mining law will become public. Make no mistake if that comes out shortly after Sept.3 it will just be more fodder for our potential legal case.
Here is a reply I got from the embassy on July 10. Let's put some pressure on them. We pay their salaries.
To the best of our knowledge, and as confirmed in local media, the latest draft of the new mining law was presented to President Correa by Minister Chiriboga of Mines and Petroleum on Friday June 27. As you are aware, this law has not yet been made public. We have been informed by various sources in the Ecuadorian government that the new mining law is unlikely to be made public before August 2008. However, it is assumed by many experts who follow this file closely that the law will be made public sometime in August.
