You know There is one thing that has been odd... well to me anyway,...
Perhaps someone could enlighten me on the Ecuadorian political mindset.
If I were Correa, and going to have a referendum, to ensure my position til 2011? I would do anything and everything to sway it to my favour.
Why would I wait to release the mining act till AFTER the referendum?
Surely, if it were to be released BEFORE.. and get all the miners back to work with more money pouring into the local economy.
It would speak volumes for political votes.. In fact, everyone would vote yes to el presidente because we now all have our jobs back.... ie Thankyou.. Thankyou.. Thankyou...
Instead... these poor people are without jobs, the economies are struggling and he wants to have a referendum? hummmmm
Why... Ok maybe I'm missing some political nuance here.. perhaps an Ecuadorian political strategy that the Politics 101 course that Correa taught was beyond my scope...
But if anyone could enlighten me it would be appreciated..
(basically.. I'm just impatient and want the GD law out in the open!)
Cheers...
