"The sheer ridiculousness of the $71 million private placement coupled with the $42 million breakup fee argues that Aurelian management and Kinross have entered this friendly deal with the full expectation that Kinross will not end up owning Fruta del Norte, and will be handsomely rewarded for the effort. If Aurelian ends up being snapped up at $15 per share, Kinross would collect nearly $200 million for its role. Aurelian was pretty much for sale anyways, so the $42 million breakup is no big deal."
