Precious metals coins and coins in general is an industry all unto itself. Certainly Caveat emptor applies to it.
Anything I would write here would not do justice to the complexities of the industry even if I wrote pages which I am not about to do.
I always suggest that everyone do there own DD and get to know the industry they are investing in as well as possible. It is my belief that by doing so you will be confident in your investment decisions and thus not be shaken out of them at any setbacks that will occur along the way.
I will suggest one thing if you do decide to buy coins and that is buy them from a reputable coin dealer with a long track record. I suggest you at least check the company out with the better business bureau.
I at the moment also so no immediate threat to depositing your valuable in a Canadian Banks safety deposit box.
I know in England that they have raided private depositories supposedly to confiscate property illegally gotten through crime. From what I have read the political and legal backlash from this fishing operation was large. If this was a trial operation to judge the publics mood on such operations then from what I have read they will not be attempting it again very soon.
There are many ways to take peoples property from them. Most people draw the line when it is done by gun carring individuals with drills, cutting tourches and pry bars hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
All in my honest opinion of course.
