BacTech Signs Growthink as Strategic Advisor
====================================...
Toronto, Canada, May 14, 2009 -- BacTech Mining Corporation ("BacTech"
or the "Company", TSX.V: BM) is pleased to announce the engagement of
Growthink, a leading strategic and transactional advisory firm to
emerging and middle market enterprises, as the Company's strategic
advisor for an environmental re-branding strategy and capital raising.
Growthink, headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, provides research,
strategic, transactional and investment capital services to its
clients, enabling companies to identify and leverage opportunities for
growth and market leadership.
BacTech is expanding the use of its bioleaching technology to the clean
up of toxic mine tailings, and recently began developing a mine
tailings project in Northern Ontario using its proprietary bioleach
technology. BacTech has been carrying out testwork on tailings taken
from the Cobalt region, with the goal of building a bioleach pilot
plant in the area to re-treat contaminated tails. This is the Company's
first foray into the cleantech arena. Growthink has been engaged by
BacTech to communicate the benefit of the Company's pioneering
bioleaching technology to the U.S. cleantech investment community, with
the goal of securing domestic funding or strategic partnerships via
comprehensive campaigns in Web marketing, public relations, financial
advisory, and investment banking.
"Growthink possesses the expertise, relationships and investment
capabilities in the cleantech space that we feel will position BacTech
for a successful equity capital raise," said Ross Orr, President and
CEO of BacTech. "We look forward to continuing to build our
relationship with the talented Growthink team as our Company becomes
poised for future growth."
"We're extremely excited to be working with BacTech, and to introduce
them to prospective domestic investors," said Jay Turo, CEO and
Managing Partner of Growthink. "The renewed focus on bioleaching will
set the stage for cleantech and environmental fund interest, and will
position BacTech as the leading provider of bacterial oxidation to the
mining industry."
BACTECH PROFILE
BacTech owns patented bacterial oxidation technology for the treatment
of refractory ores and concentrates to enhance the recovery of gold,
silver and base metals. The Company's focus is the acquisition of
equity positions in projects amenable to bioleaching. In June 2008, the
Company signed an agreement to acquire Yamana Gold Inc.'s 33% interest
in two refractory gold deposits in Papua New Guinea. In September 2008,
BacTech signed an MOU to investigate the use of bioleaching to
reprocess arsenic-laden tailings in the Cobalt area of Northern
Ontario. This is the Company's first foray into the cleantech industry.
BacTech is continuing to evaluate additional remediation projects.
