The avg # of mini evac drills before airlines get the cert is 6.
My understanding, there are two vendors of these slides, 1 far worse than the other, but even the better guy has problems at times.
It's an industry wide issue and the FAA is well away of it.
I heard, don't know the validity, 90% of the planes in the air daily, have slide that's won't deploy correctly.
Our 747 has 10 doors, of that 5 slides have to work perfectly.
My best guess is we are 4 weeks away from the next attempt.
