Barker's Trenching Exposes High Grade Silver Mineralization in 10 Target Areas on the Black Bear Silver/Lead/Gold Project
Prince George, British Columbia CANADA, March 30, 2011 /FSC/ - Barker Minerals Ltd. (BML - TSX Venture), ("BML" on TSX/V) (the "Company") is pleased to report analytical results from the previously announced 2010 two thousand metre trenching program on its high-grade silver/gold/lead Black Bear project. (see BM-10-163: http://www.barkerminerals.com/s/NewsReleases.asp?ReportID=423665&_Type=Company-News&_Title=Barker-Begins-Exploration-on-its-Blackbear-SilverGold-Project and BM-10-168: http://www.barkerminerals.com/s/NewsReleases.asp?ReportID=433860&_Type=Company-News&_Title=Barkers-Trenching-Discovers-Quartz-Vein-Mineralization-in-10-of-12-Target-A...)The 100% owned project on China Mountain is located 74 km northeast of Williams Lake, in the Cariboo region of British Columbia. The project has excellent access and infrastructure nearby. (Black Bear Location map: http://www.barkerminerals.com/bb/bb-location.jpg)
Most trenches successfully exposed variable amounts of fresh high grade silver galena mineralization which was sampled along strike of the Providence and Hunt veins, at various locations on the newly discovered veins and at highly altered zones adjacent to the veins. Grab samples reported up to 127 ounces per ton silver and 59% lead at the Providence target and a chip sample from the Hunt vein reported 37.7 oz/t silver and 37.1% lead over a 1 metre width. The sample types, locations and geochemical results can be viewed on the chart below. Trench locations can also be viewed at the following link (2010 Trench Locations: http://www.barkerminerals.com/nr/bm-11-176/bb_ge-trenches.pdf)
The trenching was also successful in identifying important intrusive rocks with elevated concentrations of silver, bismuth and lead spatially located near the highest grade mineralization identified to date. This indicates that the mineralization may increase in grade as it gets closer to the intrusion. The high oz/t silver to the % lead ratio in the intrusive itself also supports this interpretation. It is apparent that on the Black Bear property the ratio of precious metals to the % of lead will be a very useful tool in determining the proximity of mineralization to its intrusive source.
The presence of elevated precious and base metals in the highly altered host rocks with the discovery of important similarly mineralized intrusive rocks indicates the property has potential for hosting lower grade bulk tonnage precious metal deposits and high grade bonanza style veins which are being assessed for their bulk sample potential.
The assay results for gold are yet to be received from the lab and will be announced in a subsequent news release. For a more detailed chart, please click on the link below: http://www.usetdas.com/maps/barker/BarkerMineralsTable.pdf

Airborne Magnetic and Radiometric Targets In 2009 the Geological Survey of Canada completed a fully funded Radiometric and Magnetic Airborne Survey which included the Black Bear project, as well as a good portion of Barker's vast properties. The airborne survey was successful in identifying numerous magnetic anomalies near surface in the 1st derivative format. The 1st derivative magnetic anomalies are spatially associated with surface target areas and are situated near much larger and stronger magnetic highs that extend to depth. (Black Bear GSC Airborne 1st Derivative Magnetics: http://www.barkerminerals.com/nr/bm-11-176/blackbear_vd1-50k.pdf)
The airborne survey outlined a number of target areas to follow up. The Radiometric airborne survey is effective for locating near surface potassium bedrock anomalies with minimal overburden or forest cover. On the Black Bear project area, large and strong potassium anomalies were identified that are spatially near target areas. These anomalies may be reflecting larger areas of felsic rocks which could be host to larger bodies of potentially economic mineralization. (Black Bear GSC Airborne Potassium: http://www.barkerminerals.com/nr/bm-11-176/blackbear_potassium-50k.pdf).
The 2010 trenching results confirm widespread high grade potential of silver and lead on ten target areas tested and enhance the exploration potential of the entire Black Bear project area. Many similar targets remain unexplored as demonstrated by the airborne results and past geochemical studies of the immediate area.
