Shoshone plan a day of protest against Barrick Gold Posted: Nov 26, 2008 10:36 AM Updated: Nov 26, 2008 10:36 AM RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Western Shoshone activists plan a "day of resistance" today to protest a big gold mine they say will desecrate Western Shoshone religious sites in northern Nevada. The Shoshone members have filed a lawsuit and are seeking a restraining order to try to block Barrick Gold Corp.'s Cortez Hill Project in Lander County. The project was given approval this month by federal officials.
