Paul Zweng
Interim CEO & Director
Dr. Zweng has successfully blended a technical and financial background in exploration and mining over the past 25 years. From February 2003 until September 2008, he was the COO and then President/CEO of TSX listed QGX Ltd, a company with mineral projects in Mongolia. Under Dr. Zweng's leadership, QGX developed the Baruun Naran coking/thermal coal project into a 253 Mt resource and discovered the Golden Hills copper deposit, Mongolia's fourth largest. In September 2008, QGX was acquired by the Kerry Group (Hong Kong) for C$270 million, delivering substantial returns to shareholders. Dr. Zweng received two B.Sc. degrees with distinction in Geology and Applied Earth Sciences (Mineral Economics) from Stanford University (California), a M.Sc. degree in Geology from Queen’s University (Ontario) and a Ph.D. in Applied Earth Sciences (Ore Deposits) from Stanford University (California).
Julio Benedetti
President, Founder, & Director
Mr. Benedetti is a central figure in the mining industry of Panama and currently serves as the President of the Panama Chamber of Mines. In the 1980's, Mr. Benedetti was involved in the discovery of two Panamanian gold deposits (Santa Rosa and Remance) that were developed into gold mines in the 1990´s. He was also involved in the discovery of the Cerro Quema high sulphidation gold deposit and its subsequent acquisition by Bellhaven. Mr. Benedetti is fluent in English and Spanish and is an alumnus of the University of Colorado and the Colorado School of Mines.
Maria Milagros Paredes
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Paredes combines experience as a finance professional with a technical background in geology. Her extensive financial experience was developed at two storied companies, Hewlett Packard and Intel. At Hewlett Packard she was responsible for leading the Enterprise Division’s budget and planning activities. More recently at the Intel Corporation, she drove the valuation of technologies that would be used in future products, combining finance, risk, and strategic analysis to recommend technologies that would increase revenue while reducing Intel’s risk exposure. Ms. Paredes received a B.Sc. in Geological Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria Lima-Peru, a M.Sc. degree in Geology from Iowa State University, and an MBA from Cornell University (New York). She is is fluent in English and Spanish.
