This is amazing, your post brings back old memories. I also worked part time at a vet one summer when I was 15 years old . I worked 6 days a week, 10 hours a day and the tight wad paid me 5$/day, before taxes. I had to go cut his girlfriend's grass one time, don't think his wife would have been to happy, unfortunately for me, I wasn't smart enough to black mail him. The jerk actually deducted my pay for the time I was at his girlfriend's house working. I think I actually had to pay him $5 dollars for that day. Oh well.

The funny part is I used to do everything imaginable there including cleaning out poop from inside the pet cages daily. On one occasion I even got to help Dr. Tightwad spay a cat, at which time I got screamed at because I almost touched a sterile instrument. He told me to hand him the thing, how was I too know you weren't supposed to touch it with your bare hand. Since I now had a little money in my pocket, remember it wasn't much since I only made $5/day, I usually walked to the store daily, which was about 2 blocks from the vet, to buy me some lunch. I always put a white lab coat on to strut up and down the street hoping everyone driving by would think I was a Doctor instead of a pooper scooper. Don't think I was too convincing at 15 years of age. Needless to say my medical career ended that summer.

Oh well, nice to see folks share a personal side of them selves.
