Those that have the most to gain from the vaccine are the meat packers and insurance companies. The amount we pay for meat compared to what the farmer gets is outrageous. $10 for vaccine works out to 2 to 3 cents a pound of meet at the counter. And if we have less meat, onions, spinach and tomatoes that are contaminated and therefore wasted the cost is still less. Part of the excuses retailers give for the high prices is the amounts that they have to pay for insurance. Law suites paid by the insurance companies to the victims of the recent food based illness dwarfs the amount that the vaccine would cost. I am not sure why these enterprises are not part of the discussion.
As for the MCC deal, I think the company is prepared to go it alone if they don't get a deal on their terms. Pharmacy companies are not willing to go the extra mile when many companies and products could be purchased for fire sale prices from the bankrupts firms.
