CGX is on the inside track on a potential 1.1 billion barrels of recoverable oil, and it looks like Anadarko wants a piece of the action. The large American Oil Companies are starting to actively "court" the Government in Guyana for opportunities, Anadarko knows its way around the oil industry, and their interest is yet another indication that the Oil industry is taking the Ghana Potential very seriously.
CGX Energy has a full or partial stake in three concessions
roughly equal in size to the state of Maryland, and the company
conservatively estimates that its Corentyne block alone has at least
1.1 billion barrels of recoverable oil. (Note: The U.S. Geological
Service has previously estimated that the Guyana-Suriname basin has
the largest undiscovered oil reserves in the world. End Note.)

International Business Developer of Anadarko Richard Lapin accompanied by another
official of the company met with Guyana’s President, Donald Ramotar and other officials in the country’s energy sector to renew Anadarko’s interest in petroleum exploration in Guyana. Guyana’s newly appointed Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Robert Persaud also attended the meeting.
Lapin told the Government Information Agency (GINA) that while there remains much preliminary work to be undertaken, the oil and gas outlook in Guyana is positive.
Anadarko had embarked on a geological assessment of the region in its frontier quest and believes that its technical and financial capacity bodes well for investments in the sector.
Anadarko’s major areas of operation are located onshore in the United States, the deepwater of the Gulf of Mexico, and Algeria. Anadarko also has exploration and/or production in Alaska, China, Brazil, Ghana, Indonesia, Mozambique and several other countries. The company actively markets natural gas, oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs) and owns and operates gas gathering and processing systems.
