A short article outlining once more that industry sources understand that indications of a petroleum system have been found by Inpex. Not exactly sure what the term "indications" mean but it seems somewhat positive and optimistic. And if Inpex has not hit a gusher on this particular well, positive indications would confirm that they are definitely in the right neithbourhood. I have read (but cannot remember the article) that the North Sea drilled many wells with positive indications before they struck the real thing. The rest of course is history, a great history.

The well is one of the most important to be drilled in this part of the equatorial margin in years.
The jack-up Atwood Beacon recently arrived off Guyana to drill the Repsol-operated well. The Jaguar-1 well is located in water depths of about 250 metres of water. The target depth is 6500 metres below the seabed.
The well will take about six months to drill to investigate the geological objectives.
The Atwood Beacon was due to be released last year by Inpex as it was drilling the Aitkanti 1 wildcat in Surinamese waters — in the virtual heart of the North Brazil basin — but it remained on site longer than planned to finish drilling and evaluate the well.
Inpex has not revealed any details on the final result but industry sources said the well found indications of a petroleum system in the Surinamese offshore. One industry source said the results clearly merit further exploration.
Meanwhile, this is not the only well to be drilled in Guyana this year. The Ocean Saratoga rig at CGX’s operated Corentyne permit has also arrived. The rig is being moored to drill the Eagle-1 wildcat.
