Royalty interest in two producing mines in Flin Flon, Manitoba
Callinan Mines is pleased to report progress on its current programs in Northern Manitoba.
Fox River
The company has completed seven drill holes on its Fox River property near Gillam, Mb. The diamond drilling program uncovered a previously unknown ultramafic, serpentinized peridotite, containing some sulphide mineralization which appears to have similarities to that located in the Thompson Nickel Belt. This new discovery occurs in a cluster of conductive and magnetic folded structures identified by VTEM survey. The area will be the primary focus of upcoming detailed exploration.
"These sulphides, hosted in mafic rock on folded structures north of the Fox River Sill, are compelling," says President and CEO Mike Muzylowski. "This indicates that magmatic segregation, which forms the nickel-sulphide deposits we are looking for, may have occurred in this area. Further exploration of this new discovery will commence as soon as possible."
Samples from the recent drilling will be assayed by Acme Analytical Laboratories of Vancouver, BC, and will be reported as soon as available. Exploration will resume with a detailed MMI geochemical survey of the area, followed by diamond drilling.
Numerous targets isolated by VTEM survey on the Fox River claims remain to be tested. The upcoming program will include MMI soil sampling over untested VTEM anomalies to ascertain which have the highest potential. Priority VTEM / MMI anomalies will be tested by diamond drilling. The Fox River mineral license consists of a 400,000 acre claim north of the Fox River sill. The property is located on a structural extension of the Thompson Nickel Belt, host to several high grade nickel mines.
Snow Lake
Callinan has expanded its land position in the Snow Lake area, where recent discoveries have been made. The Sneath Lake program, conducted in the fall of 2007, isolated zinc and copper sulphide intercepts in altered rock on known mine horizons near the mined out Anderson Lake, Stall Lake and Chisel Lake mines in Snow Lake, Mb. The company's airborne surveys and diamond drilling have indicated that similar volcanogenic structures could be hosted along alteration zones on the company's Sneath Lake property. A diamond drilling program will be conducted this spring on the Sneath Lake property, the nearby Dion Lake property and the newly optioned Berry Creek Claims.
Intercepts from the Fall 2007 program at Sneath Lake are still being processed, and assays will be reported as they become available. Previous drilling on the property by Callinan Mines intersected mineralized sections grading up to 1.1% copper and 3.5% zinc.
All of Callinan's exploration programs are conducted under the direction
of Pat Deveaux, P.Geo, a qualified person as defined by national
instrument 43-101, who has reviewed and approved the contents of this
