Callinan Plans Summer Drill Program for Dion Lake Uranium Claims

VANCOUVER, June 17 /CNW/ - Field programs conducted on the Dion Lake uranium claims near Snow Lake, Manitoba have yielded new targets to be drilled as part of a summer program.

Callinan Mines acquired the claims by staking in 2007 based on assessment reports filed with the Manitoba government. Previous operators experienced moderate success exploring for copper, and uncovered a pegmatite intrusive zone in the process. Copper grading up to 1.94% was isolated over narrow widths in various drill holes. Uranium assays of a pegmatite zone defined by previous operators contained surface samples grading 2.64% - 5.75% U3O8.

A recent prospecting program conducted on the property by Callinan Mines isolated outcroppings of pink and white pegmatite with yellow uranium staining in an area approximately 80 meters long and 50 meters wide. Seven blast samples taken from the area of interest graded from 0.028 % to 0.351 % U3O8. The uranium mineralization occurring in the pegmatite appears to conform to a graphite-pyrite-pyrrhotite horizon. An airborne VTEM survey, conducted by Geotech airborne, has located large, conductive features which appear to be associated with the pegmatite located by prospecting.

The company has planned a summer exploration program for the Dion Lake claims. The program will include diamond drilling under the area of known mineralization, as well as MMI geochemical sampling of areas of conductivity isolated by the VTEM survey.

President Mike Muzylowski is optimistic about the prospect of a new uranium discovery in Manitoba. "The pegmatite zones in the assessment reports are interesting in the context of the uranium values recovered while prospecting. The VTEM survey has given further indication of repetitions and conformity to the south. The graphite-sulphide zone could be a useful pathfinder for pegmatite based uranium mineralization."

On Behalf of the Board of Directors,

Mike Muzylowski

The Dion Lake program is being conducted under the direction of Pat Deveaux, P.Geo, a qualified person as defined by national instrument 43-101, who has reviewed and approved the contents of this release.
