Hey all,

Just noticed another informative post by Barrhead on Investors Village. Just thought that I would copy it over so that everyone on this site could have a look. Wish we could get Barrhead back posting on this site again. He is definitely a guy who does his homework on what he is invested in. He use to but has stopped recently. The post reads as follows:

Re: contractual depth limitations? Thanks again jimboalogo for repasting the comment about the 150 meter limitation.
In Alberta a well licence has to be obtained to drill beyond that depth, and most likely involves a larger rig than just a water well drilling outfit. The larger rigs would have to install surface pipe, and blowout preventer (BOP) or a rotating head (type of BOP) to ensure they have control of the well at all times.
There is a company that I had on my files at the office that uses just a quad and a <span class="titlered">Milwaukee Cordless hand drill to go down about 3-10' and then pull a gas test with a vaccum pump to check for gas migration or near surface hydrocarbons as discussed to some degree at: <cite><a href="http://www.eti-geochemistry.com/else... ; </span>
On some pipeline inspections some use a tool referred to an ionic flame to detect minor gas leaks, and is almost as successful as using specially trained dogs to detect gas leaks in a pipeline desribed at: <a href="http://www.the-sniffers.be/pipeline/... ;. Off shore they can drag a tool near the bottom of the ocean floor to detect gas seeps and providing clues with seismic for any sub sea level hydrocarbon deposits.
In the case with CIVC the drilling must have have resulted in a positive test of testing their theories on discovering shallow gas and now that they have the model proven to some degree, they can decide where to begin twinning the wells or doing some real drilling.
All the best of luck to one and all, as CIVC sniffs out the gas in SE Alberta.

Regardzzz..............................
