Penasquito and Repressa are the same type of deposit so it is natural to compare them. There is no doubt that there are differences and that should be expected. Even deposits located in very close proximity will have difference in grades and composition let alone 50Km apart. Everything from the depth of the sources of the fluids, the amount of sulphides in the system, the host rock, to variations in local geological structure will influence what minerals percipiates out and in what concentrations.
The choice to call one a gold mine vs a silver mine or a polymetallic Ag, Zn, Au, Pb mine is the company's. The rule of thumb is the dominent value mineral first but they can do whatever they want.
Be very careful in casting a mine as a XX mine with everything converted to XX equivalents. It is totally hype for the market to make it easier for investors to wrap their head around a single number then to think of the reserves as four metals whose prices movements are loosely correlated. It leads people to make comments and decisions about companies like AEM where they state the NET cost of mining their gold is zero because of their copper credits. Looks good but it just creative accounting (a little vent I needed to take) becasue you had to pay to mine both to get to the point where you worry about where to assign the costs to.
