Perhaps it was retained until they got rid of the Series 2 and Series 3 stock which related to a naked short lawsuit. Now that they answered that question definitively, perhaps the wording will be removed the next time around. In any case, this makes it very clear the company does not subscribe to the huge ex-clearing naked short theory so if it continues it will only be in the minds of the most hard core pumpers.
