QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 4, 2013) - Clifton Star Resources Inc. ("the Company" or "Clifton Star") (TSX VENTURE:CFO)(FRANKFURT:C3T) is pleased to release the assay results for its 3 last drill holes from the 2013 drill program. Clifton Star has confirmed that the mineralization is open and continues to the west, beyond the limits of the felsic intrusion.

The drill holes listed in this press release were not included in the recently published (June 28, 2013) NI 43-101 resource estimate update, as they were completed after the May 6th cut-off date.

Drill Highlights include:

  • Hole BD13-37 with 34.0 metres grading 2.25 g/t Au, including 18.5 metres grading 2.46 g/t Au and 17.0 metres grading 2.50 g/t Au.

  • Hole BD13-38 with 39.0 metres grading 1.51 g/t Au, including 22.5 metres grading 2.19 g/t Au.

  • Hole BD13-39 with 12.0 metres grading 1.04 g/t Au.

Diamond Drilling Program

The results from the final 3 drill holes from the 2013 diamond drill hole program are listed in Table 1 (Click here to see Table 1).

Typically the gold mineralization on the Beattie property is associated within the felsic intrusion (syenite) and along its contacts with the volcanic and sedimentary rocks. Exploration hole BD13-37, drilled outside of and to the west of the felsic intrusion, confirmed that the shear zone and associated gold mineralization extend into the volcanic rocks. Hole BD13-37, drilled the furthest to the west along the shear zone, is located 25 m to the west and 65 m below hole BD10-228 (6.4 g/t over 22.5 m). Assay results from hole BD13-37 returned 2.25 g/t Au over 34.0 metres, including two higher grade sections with 2.46 g/t Au over 18.5 metres and 2.50 g/t Au over 17.0 metres. This mineralized shear zone remains open to the west and at depth. (Click here to see Figure 1).

Holes BD13-38 and BD13-39 were drilled along the southern pit wall, in order to extend the various lenses of the South Zone as well as convert the current Inferred Resources to Indicated Resources (Click here to see Figure 2). Hole BD13-38 assayed 1.51 g/t Au over 39.0 metres, including a higher grade interval of 2.19 g/t Au over 22.5 metres. Hole BD13-39 assayed 1.04 g/t Au over 12.0m in the upper part of the hole.

The true thicknesses of the intersections are typically 60% to 70% of the core lengths.

Clifton Star is very pleased with these assay results, indicating that the mineralization remains open along strike and at depth.

2013 Activities

Clifton Star has just fulfilled its drilling objective of 20,000 meters for 2013.

The Company has completed its Pilot Plant tests with SGS Minerals in Lakefield, Ontario and is currently waiting for the final analysis and environmental work on the tailings. These metallurgical tests examined the POX (Pressure Oxidization) flow sheet as used in the recently released PEA, as well as the potential to produce saleable Gold Concentrates as an alternative process.

Clifton Star continues to advance the Pre-Feasibility Study on the Duparquet Project that will incorporate the results of the new resource estimate (June 28, 2013) and the Pilot Plant tests.

Technical Information and Qualified Persons

Diamond drill holes are drilled to recover NQ size core. The core samples are logged and sampled prior to being transported directly by the Company to Activation Laboratories Ltd. (Ste-Germaine de Boule), an independent accredited laboratory, for assay analyses. The assay analyses performed during Clifton's drill programs are subject to a formal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) program, with standard reference materials, blanks, and field duplicate samples inserted prior to shipment from site to monitor the quality control of the data. Samples with higher grade gold (greater than 10 grams per tonne) are re-assayed using a gravimetric and/or pulps and metallic procedure. All gold results reported are cut, with individual assays greater than 25 grams per tonne cut to 25 grams.

Clifton's exploration team designed and executed the 2013 drilling program under the supervision of Clifton Star's Vice President of Exploration, Mr. Louis Martin. The content of this news release has been written and approved by Mr. Louis Martin, P.Geo, a Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.

Neither the TSX Venture Exchange nor its Regulations Services Provider (as the term is defined in policies of the TSX Venture Exchange) accepts responsibility for the adequacy or accuracy of this release.
