Lynn:
Frankly, the bailout plan in our House of Representatives is far from a given. There is oppositon from not only some Republicans but also from many of the "blue dog" Democrats. If I had to bet, it will very narrowly pass. But, I would not be real confident about my bet.
As for the Presidential election, we have a very liberal (socialist) running for the Presidency who has total political experience at the Federal level of 3 years, which in reality is 1 year as he has spent the last two years on the campaign trail and has rarely even been seen in the Senate in the past two years.
During the primary campaign, he ran hard to the left. As soon as he secured the nomination, he reversed field and ran hard to the middle. He has the most Liberal voting record in the US Senate when he has occasionally been present. Which Obama am I supposed to believe?
On a more germane subject, I believe DG has been doing a tremendous job. The plan is coming together with effective execution and obviously effective vision and planning. During this period of maximum stress Dick has not only been supportive of Connacher share price in a terrible macro environment, but also nearly mythical in his ability to manage with considerable aplomb the variety of issues which could additonally impact Connacher negatively. Makes me glad Dick is at the helm!
