I am quite familiar with tax loss selling and admit such is likely contributing to this recent sell off. In my opinion, the current sell off has been a bit overdone. The announcement of yesterday of course, gave an excuse for the sell off of the last two days. Here in the States, if one sells a position and then prior to 31 days, buys the same stock back, it is deemed to be a continuing position and therefore does not qualify as a capital loss.

Be interesting to see what the short position is as of January.
