Yes volumes are low .But if I look to the markets so far the chance we go up after New Year is greater then goig down.We tend to move to the upwards side of the Bollinger bands on the technical charts.

Normally Januari is not a bad month for stocks because many cash comes free and must be invested.A small pop up could be I hope .
