WTI blues

Just catching up with the board posts.

Big indoor tennis tournament in our club. This time, unfortunately just helping with the organization.

WTI April contract is up above $46 in overnight trading (as usual suspect, US$, is down). Regular trading blues may start next week when the OIL ETF funds start to roll over to May contracts.

Few billion $ in WTI front month contracts will move (sold) to next month contract. As you can see from the chart we have the downtrend in the middle of last few months and the spike up at the end of the month.

The last thing OIL ETF wants is to take delivery of the oil so they roll over contracts every month. The blues stops to be play in 3rd Friday of the month when the front month expire. Unexpected inventory numbers or additional production cut may brake the trend.

It will be interesting to see were will the 80 million barrels of oil stored in the tankers go.

Encouraging is to see double bottom (hopefully).

March 5 Bitumen price at the Hardisty was about $33/bbl. Everage Weighted for Feb was $27/bbl.
