You are right, natural gas has a ton of positives. You pointed out many, and don't forget that the Middle East is working on industrial complexes to produce products from natural gas so the products are much easier to transport around the world, rather than piping the gas (fertilizers would be a good example).
The only drawback is that in North America anyway, NG is suffering from a worse "peak" situation than oil, in some ways. For instance, wells deplete a lot faster, so you need to be redrilling much more frequently.
You should pick up a copy of a book called, "High Noon For Natural Gas." It's five or six years old, but a great read. You'll understand a lot of the natural gas issues in more depth.
Yes, it's a great fuel, but like everything else, seems to have its limitations.
