Usually, if this is just upward pressure because of an impending news release (which more often than not happens after Friday close), there is a small and sudden last-minute surge in the stock price with about 45 minutes left in the session.
So IF that happens, I think we can expect a news release today. That would be good for those who want to buy in next week, because the SP should drop again by a bit on Monday.
If that does NOT happen, then I think the rise in price over the past few days could be just early 2010 optimism, looking forward to Algar's impending completion, and the startup of production in another 7-8 months. Good for the long-term holders.
Either way, although I was hoping to pick up more shares when they were still down below $1.30, I'm pleased with the developments of the past week. I don't think we'll see oil getting above $90 for a while though, at least I hope not, because of the damage it would start to do to the economy. Let's hope it stays between $75 and $85 for the year. That's still enough that CLL will do well.
