Message: US debt
Nice try Jurek
When Bush left office debt was 10.626 Trillion, Now according to the chart it's 14.3. What leftist website did you get this from anyways? Tax cuts are considered costs? You obviously have no idea how the U.S Government functions. The House of Representatives controls the money. They put forth a budget where the Senate tweeks it to suite their agenda and once a final Senate/House of Reps deal is made it goes to the President who thens signs it into law or Vetoes it.As Obama found out Presidents can only request certain things in the budget or negotiate what he wants under threat of veto..Reagan had to trade increased social spending to get his tax cuts and military spending, his increase to the debt was due to too much social spending. That said when one party doesn't hold all levels of power is when gridlock happens..So forget about who was president when the debt was incurred look at who controlled the House and Senate...Democrats held both the House and Senate from 1955 to 1980--The Republicans took the Senate from 1981-1987--The Democrats then regained control of the House and Senate from 1987-1995----The Republicans then took control in 1995 of both House for the first time in 50 years.(.IN FACT Clinton ran deficits until the Republicans took over the house..) The Democrats then took back both Houses in 2005 until they lost the house in 2010..Looking at your own chart you'll see that most of the U.S debt under Bush came in AFTER the Democrats took the House and Senate.
A more productive use of your time will show that the OVERWHELMING AMOUNT OF DEBT occured when the Democrats controlled both houses and thus spending..IN FACT you'll also find that from 2000 to 2005 was the first time since at least 1931 that the President ( G.W .Bush) and both house were Republican..His debt was a direct result of 911 and the following wars..and also that unfunded prescription drug plan that so pissed of Conservatives , but then again Bush was a NEO-CON,,the left wing of the Republican Party,,We call them Red Torries in Canada.
